Introduction:

Thessaloniki is the second-largest city in Greece and the fifth largest and most populated city in the Balkans and a popular tourist destination in Greece and worldwide. At about a million inhabitants, it is considered Greece's cultural capital. More importantly, it is also a city with a continuous 3,000 year old history, preserving relics of its Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman past, and of its formerly dominant Jewish population. Many of its Byzantine churches and a whole district of the city in particular, are included in UNESCO's World Heritage list.

Thessaloniki Int'l Airport:

Thessaloniki Int'l is located about 15 km SE of the city center of Thessaloniki. The airport is the second largest in Greece serving almost 4 million passengers per year. The spectacular approach to RW16 offers unique views above the city’s most famous landmarks before descending above water to finally land.

Thessaloniki often gets completely fogged in, especially at evening and early morning hours, when wind is calm due to the humidity of adjacent Thermaikos gulf sea. For this reason ILS 16 and the runway & taxiway lights are for CATII category for precision approaches down to 150ft above the runway and/or 450m visibility. On the other side, the approach is equally thrilling as you will have to stay alert of the uneven terrain and pay attention to rather steep descent before landing on RW34.

All this, and much more is offered in this scenery add-on which will take you several days to explore and allow you to appreciate the beauty of the special city of Thessaloniki! .

Dammm man

What an amazing scenery. It's very good optimised, there's lots of detail. It has become one of my favourite airports in FSX. It works very well with GSX and traffic addons! Make more of such airports!

    Spectacular at least!

What a masterpiece that is. The level of immersion you get when approaching LGTS is simply mind-blowing! I still cannot grasp how they have managed to fit in every bit of detail with such fluid performance in FSX. My hat off to FSDG !

      Unique add on

After seeing the first previews on the Aerosoft forums I was convinced this would be a good looking scenery. Once release was close I was given the oppurtunity to create the official release video and got my first impressions on this large scaled scenery. Not only the airport was detailed but the whole city was present and performance was insanely good for me (not everyone will agree). I can only say that this scenery is worth the buy if you have a system that isn't from the stone age and you know how to use FSX/P3D properly without wanting it to be a 2015 game which uses hardware the way it's supposed to be used (blame Microsoft for that and not any developer out there that spents countless hours/months and sometimes years, just to bring you something created out of passion. 5/5 if you ask me

        Mutley's Hangar

Well, with Aerosoft Thessaloniki X you will find yourself completely immersed in an area of outstanding beauty and attention to detail. From the not so lowly trees and shrubs to the overwhelming amount of bespoke buildings, sports stadiums, ancient ruins, roadways, parks, and much more. With the mix of a wonderfully detailed airport and the surrounding city and urban/rural areas, ports and recreational areas, you can not help but feel you are there for real. The development team have completely mastered this airport in a way which no one else has done. With a little tweaking on my part, the amount of detail I was able to retain whilst keeping my frame rates at a more than acceptable level is, I believe, testament to the effort and hard work the team has put in. It may only be approximately 20 sq km, but what an outstandingly amazing 20 sq km it is. I am thoroughly impressed with Aerosoft Thessaloniki X and would recommend it to any type of pilot, be it large heavy tube fliers or the not so heavy general aviation aircraft pilots. I doubt very much you would be disappointed.

It's the scenery that Mathijs Kok himself hails as the best airport scenery he has seen and like myself, he has seen many an airport scenery in his time. It is the airport I personally hail as my top 5 favorite sceneries of all time. LHSimulations Budapest, FlyTampa Dubai, 29Palms Skiathos, and Drzewiecki Krakow sit on that list. I won't say who they just bumped but welcome to my top 5 FSDG. That is not an easy list to get on. If there was anyone out there who did not take FSDG seriously before, they have a huge reason to do so now. This team isn't going anywhere but up and it's very hard to imagine how they might top this project. I imagine they will have to do an entire island. Oh wait. They already did that. What's most impressive here is the face that they managed to get it all working so smoothly on my rig and without OOM's.

If you are any kind of flight sim enthusiast you will definitely, without a doubt want to purchase this product. It is easy to see that the developers were very passionate about what they were creating; it shows in the quality of the finished product. I absolutely loved everything about Thessaloniki X and if I could give a product a gold star I would definitely award it to this product.
